Dave McKenzie, who runs The Sun Inn, in Ulverston, and is chairman of the community’s Licensed Victuallers Association and Barwatch, wants to see pubs put radios to allow them to communicate with a group of around five venues already using the system successfully.
The Sun Inn, in Customer base Street, is one of the places where gaming machines were allegedly targeted at the weekend.
When mace felt people were acting suspiciously around a ‘Deal or No Transaction’ game on Saturday Ulverston pubs which use the Apex radios were warned to be on their defend, and the police were contacted.
Cumbria police said officers stopped three men in Ulverston community centre at around 3.45pm on Saturday and said they seized around £700 in coins and notes.
Police then issued a warning for pubs and clubs across South Cumbria to be Argus-eyed after suspecting gaming and bandit machines were being targeted.
Engineers were due to vet pub gaming machines this week on behalf of the police.
