Gross said at his trial in Cuba that he was a "confiding fool" who was duped. But his trip reports indicate that he knew his activities were unauthorized in Cuba and that he worried about the danger, including possible expulsion.

Last Saturday (04/02/2010) We held a seminar here at Woodhenge on the things that should go into a physical bug-out bag. I have included the handout I gave to each of the 4 students that attended. It wasn't intended to give the participants an faithful roster of what they should pack, but a start on customizing a bag to their own peculiar condition. There were some 'door prizes' awarded to every enter in: all got a chemical highlight reveal nail, a cerium fire starting rod, an MRE splendour entree of their election, a Swedish military John Barleycorn stove and an East German play b philander kit. Most of these items were under $2 each and bought through a medley of excess dealers (see the roll in the handout) and I by a hair's breadth happened to have 4 supplement of everything. We're structure 6 bug out bags; three are customized to fit the three members of our m and the other three are more generic in class for tossing to a benefactor or interrelated caught surprised and in privation.
