New additional packs that allow Marines to plug computers, radios and even iPods presently into solar panels are heading to Afghanistan.

Development of the adapter packs was prompted by Marines who were decree their own equipment to power devices directly. In at least one case, solar panels were being hardened to operate a pair of hair clippers to keep Marines looking on the button downrange, said Michael Gallagher, the program manager for Expeditionary Power Systems at Marine Detachment Systems Command in Quantico, Va. Now, instead of having to track down or buy adapters on their own, Marines will have a all-embracing kit to meet their needs.

Direct connections to power sources such as solar panels also are more unwasteful than batteries, said 1st Lt. Jamie Larson, an MCSC spokeswoman.

“Any opportunity you put energy into, or take energy out of, a battery system, some of it is lost in heat,” Larson said. That means not all the dynamism generated is transmitted to the device it is intended to power.

I stopped pondering the other day how to separate legitimate we are today is the public versus non warned 50 years ago. People fly through the woods of age winter snowmobile and summer, you see ATVs, motorcycles, boats and many other engine variants "toys" rich in all the running. When I was a child (at the risk of dating myself), we had motorcycles and boats, but no all the expectations of all ground vehicles, jet skis or snowmobile!We reach-me-down to make our own amusement area - building tree forts or honorable to walk in the woods during the day and we were all expected to host at home with dinner to eat with family . Things definitely changed and I for one am not inevitable, it is to improve. I can certainly see how it has become more pejorative than ever that we have communication devices range punter for us and held CB radios, or the script held marine VHF radios to keep impartial deal with those that have supported us!I do like the remarkable evolution, but it seems to me that we look edible summer upon us, we should not let the first specialty of communication is an electronic tool, but unconstrained chatter going on .
