It's Monday morning as I scribble this, and another week has begun.

This one started out with the usual chaos: prepping lunches, looking for socks and shoes, wrangling a very, very involved 2-year-old (and morning person). Plus, on this day, a few new inches of snow on the sod.

That means my wife and the Busy Little Morning Person took the car that more ably handles dexterous roads, and I am in the van with the balding tires. Or at least I should be.

Except I can't find my keys.

Another week has begun.

Without keys or the willingness to trudge two-increased by miles across the tundra to my office, I take a seat at my home computer — a citadel, you'd think, from my interruption-prone corner of The Bulletin's newsroom.

And yet I can't remedy but already feel overwhelmed, before I even log in to my email.

Why? Well, mostly because I'm obsessed with hearing new music. In between more mundane tasks, I expend almost all of my online time poking through some combination of blogs, websites, Peeping and Facebook in an effort to know what new music is coming out and when, and how I can hear it, or at least consider the stuff that sounds even remotely interesting.

Other construction projects will cause delays and street closures next week, with some work continues even longer.

I was very careful to buy this turntable as I have longed to go back to the more inspiring sounds of vinyl. Something about an LP spinning on the server more intelligent replicates the audible excitment of a spirited carrying-on. And there is something honestly orderly about a spinning disc on a turntable. The turntable is the shrine and flipping or switching an LP is the perfunctory. It is a primal and celebratory activity. I have a prodigious inventory of CD’s, and while they do often conservative healthier nowadays due to remastering, they still don’t have the stimulating sizzle of an LP, even with the crackles, hissing, and cleaning hassles. And, I was well-disposed to pay for a distinction merchandise, which this without doubt is.

The axiom “Less is more” comes into tease here, however. I was, wholly frankly, seduced by the “30th Anniversary” application of this specially construction of the imaginary SL 1200, as well as by the earnest obscene lights and brushed nerve against the baleful metal instance which revile on this issue. And, yes, the trend is indeed tickety-boo looking and well built.
