Does anyone out there repair the old style record players?.My turntable won't rotate without help from me.
Question: When I put it in start status it won't turn unless I help it.It will then get up to speed.When the record has finished again it slows above-board down and needs help to complete the cycle. The deck is a Garrard,I cogitate on 1000 model.My thoughts are that the turntable drive
Answer: It's doubtlessly the bearings on the squirrel cage motor that drives the turntable driveway (jockey) wheel. Try a bit of 3-in-1 machine oil or similar on the motor bearings. Your chances of find spares are close to zero other than from a car boot sale.
