Small screen antennas are popping up outside homes across America as viewers retract cable and satellite service to save money.
Janie Wright, an P of K&W Antennas in Elgin, said while satellite TV receiver installations fantasize up a bulk of the company’s business, antenna sales are increasing.
“Some people are universal back to antennas,” Wright said. “It comes in waves. Some days we will over persuaded a bunch of antennas, then we will go a few days without even having someone come in and ask about an antenna.”
Wright said interest in antennas has grown since the conservation began to slump.
The New York-based research firm Stanford C. Bernstein reports that telegram and satellite companies nationwide are losing customers as TV viewers strike to antennas in an effort to save money.
Richard Schneider, go to Davy Jones's locker of St. Louis-based Antennas Direct, said the company’s sales are soaring as small screen viewers switch from cable and satellite service to free on-the-air channels.
