Why does my handheld scanner (Radio Shack) not work when plugged in?

Question: I have a Handheld Radio Scanner (Radio Shack Marque SKU: 200-0404 Model PRO-404). I was wondering if there was some way to use the scanner without the use of batteries while having it plugged into an A/C (or D/C) Adapter. I've tried it when plugged in with the yellow rechargeable

Answer: Could try looking in the handbook http://www.radioshack.com/graphics/uc/rs k/Support/ProductManuals/2000404_PM_EN.p df

The DC jack may be let go or broken. If anything, take the scanner to your local Radio Shack and see if they know.
