What is the difference between a 2 way radio (Walkie Talkie) and a Police Scanner ?

Question: I'm looking into listening in on my county police in my town and I'm thinking of getting a 2 way radio (Walkie Talkie) The radio I covet has got a 40 km range, which is a lot....is there a difference between a 2 way radio (walkie talkie) and a supervise scanner ?

Answer: A scanner will add you to listen, assuming that it will pick up the correct frequency! A two way radio (such as a walkie talkie) will assign you to broadcast as well as listen. It most likely is going to be illegal to scatter on a police frequency, so chose the scanner!
