How do I connect my blue ray DVD player, HDTV, cable box, av receiver and speakers?

Question: I have a sony bdps350 dvd jock and a HD Comcast cable box and will buy a 46" TV and av receiver.

I was told to fit the dvd directly to the tv via HDMI and for the sound to use optical from the dvd to the av. Will this give me the best idol and sound?

Comcast --> hdmi --> receiver
blu-ray --> hdmi --> receiver
receiver --> hdmi -->TV
(you will use the receiver to change-over inputs to the tv, you dont change the input on
