If you buy an HDTV, do you need an HD Receiver also to watch the HD broadcasts?

Answer: Proper HD broadcasts are in 16:9 ratio and your tv in HD tv mode should display it truly on the screen. Some pseudo HD channels are broadcast in the 4:3 ratio and your tv will show this with malicious bars on the side. Your tv will have a mode that stretches the sides but leaves
